World book day

I had such good fun making Wonka bars and a golden ticket for Joshys world book day at school. To celebrate world book day children choose their favourite character from a book and dress up as their choice.

Josh loves Roald Dahl, but most of all he loves Charlie and the chocolate factory, so he decided to be Charlie Bucket. Charlie Bucket is very poor, in the book his arms and ankles are popping out from his too short clothes, I figured his mum may have patched his shirts and trousers and a few buttons might be missing here and there, and Charlie being a typical boy might have got his shirt a bit messy!

Joshy hates dressing up so we couldn't be too over the top! I made the chocolate bar by cutting up layers of a padded envelope, wrapping it in foil and a Wonka wrapper, (found on google images!) Such fun!

Happy world book day, what are you reading right now?

Do you know many mummys come into the shop I work in at the last minute needing ribbons etc for World Book Day - we haven't had Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yet!

How cool!! I can't wait til Joey is has his book day. Probably he will want to be something really hard to fashion! Hahaha!!

You made me crave chocolate now. ;)

I just finished reading a boy's book with Hubby and as it was a bit too gory for my liking, I can't wait to dive into a well deserved chick lit. :)

When it was my daughter's turn she went as Where's Wally? It was fun.

Glad you had so much fun getting the costume together. Hope he has a great day. xx

Excellent idea. Your boy really looks the part. Do you know that they cancelled World Book Day at my daughter's school? No explanation given. Very bizarre.

How fab, what a clever mummy you are1 T didn't enjoy dressing up for these things either, he had to be 'in normal clothes' so Dr Who was a favourite! He does love the RD books too, although he knows them all it's through listening to them on CD, he has just never been a reader which is a shame although we have always read with and to him. S is showing more interest.

Josh look brilliant as Charlie and his Wonka bar is perfect. I hope he had a good day. Our high school did a DEAR day. Drop Everything And Read. We downed tool at 10.25 and read for 15 minutes until interval. It was great fun. I'm reading Cranford at the moment as it was free on Kindle!!

Hope you're all well xx
