crochet paper chains

These crochet 'paper' chains are really easy, using odds and end of wool and as they are joined as they go they are super quick too!

I've not typed out my own pattern before so I hope this is easy to understand, if there's any bits where I dont make sense just say!

What you'll need:
odds of double knitting wool
4mm crochet hook

(you can use any wool but remember to change your hook size)

stitches
chain
slip stitch
UK treble

First crochet paper chain

with your first colour chain 30, then join with a slip stitch into first chain to form a ring. next chain 3 (which counts as first treble) then add 34 more trebles into ring join with a slip stitch into third chain of first 3chain treble. fasten off.

that's the first crochet 'paper' chain made.

Second Chain

with a different colour chain 30, before joining into a ring thread the chain through the crochet 'paper' chain you have just made, then join with slip stitch to form a ring. your ring should now be looping through the crochet paper chain you have just made. now chain 3 (which counts as your first treble) and next treble 34 more, join with a slip stitch into first treble and fasten off.

you now should have two crochet paper chains joined together, simply keep changing colours and adding as many links to your chain as you wish, you can also make your links bigger by making a larger foundation chain or smaller adjusting the number of trebles so they make a nice loop.

next sew in any loose ends and then drape over pictures, door ways or your tree!

Clever idea, you've shared with us. Thank you! Wonder what would happen if we went all glitzy and used some golden metallic threaded yarn ... synthetic, yet gleaming?

Think that you've started something. xo
